IRENE NAKASANJE

Learning, building
and looking ahead.

I am the Managing Director of Cherut Travel & Safaris, a Namibia-based travel and tourism company.

My professional journey began in Uganda, where I gained experience in ticketing, reservations, customer service and the practical demands of running a travel business. Moving to Namibia opened a new chapter and broadened my view of Southern Africa’s tourism potential.

Today, my interests span travel management, tour operations, regional connectivity and developing relationships with international travel partners. I am particularly interested in how African destination knowledge can connect with markets such as North America.

Building a business has also shaped my understanding of leadership. Strong systems, financial discipline, clear responsibilities and a willingness to seek advice are part of the work. I write here about those lessons alongside the destinations and ideas that keep me interested in travel.

THE THREAD OF MY WORK

Three connected chapters.

01 / UGANDA

Building experience in ticketing, reservations, client service and entrepreneurship. Lessons I continue to carry into my work.

02 / NAMIBIA

A place to build

Leading Cherut Travel & Safaris, understanding a new tourism environment and developing a business rooted in local knowledge.

03 / LOOKING OUTWARD

A regional vision

Exploring connections across Southern Africa and developing relationships with international tourism markets.

A PRINCIPLE I RETURN TO

“A good journey leaves room to experience a place,
rather than simply move through it.”

Irene Nakasanje · On connected Southern African travel
