From Uganda to Namibia: A Journey in Travel

My professional journey began in Uganda, where I developed experience in ticketing, reservations, customer service and running a travel business. It has since taken me to Namibia and into a new chapter of entrepreneurship through Cherut Travel & Safaris.

Experience that shaped my approach

The journey has included difficult business seasons as well as progress. Some decisions are ones I would approach differently today. That experience has changed how I think about building a sustainable organisation.

Sales and good ideas matter, but they need to be supported by systems, financial discipline, accountability and capable people. Leadership also has to develop as the business grows.

A new chapter in Namibia

Today, I lead Cherut Travel & Safaris, a Namibia-based company working in travel services, ticketing, tours and Southern African tourism. Namibia has broadened my understanding of what the region can offer.

I am particularly interested in the possibilities across the Southern African Development Community. Destinations, airlines and operators can work together to make regional travel more accessible and professionally organised.

Connecting with the wider world

Another focus is developing international relationships, including in North America. Travel advisors and operators need local partners who can explain the destination and manage the practical details behind a rewarding journey.

African businesses have knowledge and stories to contribute. I want Cherut to continue developing the relationships and operational strength that allow us to bring that contribution into international conversations.

Why I am writing

I am sharing my perspective because the industry benefits when its practitioners exchange what they are learning. This journal brings together my interests in tourism, ticketing, regional connectivity, entrepreneurship and leadership.

My story continues to develop. I hope the ideas shared here encourage useful conversations about how we can build stronger businesses and a more connected African travel industry.
